Dr. Kerr is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with an additional certificate of added qualification in Hand Surgery. Dr. Kerr has special interests in hand and upper extremity orthopedic surgery with a particular interest in carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis surgery, tendonitis and hand reconstruction. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the OSU Helix-Biological Honor Society. Dr. Kerr attended The College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Dr. Kerr completed both his Internship and then Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He completed a Fellowship at the University of Louisville in Hand Surgery and limits his practice to the hand, wrist and upper extremity.
Dr. Kerr later served Doctors Hospital as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Residency Training Program Director, Surgical Suite Coordinator, and then President of the Medical Staff. He continued on as a member of the Board of Trustees of Doctors Hospital until its eventual sale to Ohio Health. Dr. Kerr has also served as President of the Hand Section of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and Assistant Clinical Examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Kerr served on the Board of Trustees of, and is a past president of, The American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. Dr. Kerr is one of the founders of The New Albany Surgical Hospital (NASH) and serves on its Board of Trustees.
Dr. Kerr has published articles in The Journal of Trauma, The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, The American Journal of Hand Surgery, The British Journal of Hand Surgery, and Arthroscopy. He held the position of President of OrthoNeuro from 1993- 2009. Dr. Kerr holds privileges at the Mt. Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital and St. Ann's Hospital.
