Dr. Mavian is a Board Certified Neurological Surgeon with special interests in spinal disorders with an emphasis upon complex spine and microneurosurgical procedures of the spine. Dr. Mavian received his Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Mavian attended medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. He completed both his internship and residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland Park, Michigan where he received The Resident Achievement Award from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Mavian has received awards for Scientific Exhibits at the Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Specialists, Scientific Exhibit - Poster Section, Second Place, First Place and First Place/Best of Show on three separate occasions. Dr. Mavian has held positions at Doctor's Hospital including Chairman of the Department of Neurosciences. He has also served as Director of the Neurological Surgery Residency Training Program, Doctor's Hospital - Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons as Chairman and Vice Chairman to Discipline of Neurological Surgery as well as Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Exhibits/Poster Committee. Currently, he is serving as the Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Mavian provides proven and current treatment options for spinal disc disorders in the appropriate circumstance. He has been practicing neurological surgery with OrthoNeuro since 1986.
